“One of the things that sets us apart,” explains Mark Olmstead, an MEB Vice President, “is our willingness to do most any kind of project”. MEB is masterful at learning new techniques and harnessing cutting-edge technology in order to take on complex Civil projects such as the $28 million Lake Gaston Treatment Plant. MEB utilized new technology patented by a firm in Toronto that cleans the water by puling a vacuum through millions of spaghetti-like membrane strands through a series of pumps. Interfacing existing water treatment processes this way is very new in the United States and MEB was successful in completing the project on time.
“We have a lot of forward thinking people who can figure out faster and better ways to build projects”, says David Erwin, Vice President and Senior Project Manager.
A side benefit to heavy civil projects, says George Clarke, President of MEB, is knowing how often they contribute to improving the environment in some way”.
